Chiefs Acquire Cam Erving From Browns For 5th Round Pick

Aug 30, 2017 8:00 PM

The Kansas City Chiefs have acquired Cam Erving from the Cleveland Browns for a fifth round pick in 2018.

Erving was a first round pick on the offensive line in 2015.

From 2007 through 2016 the Browns took 13 players in the first round of the draft. Three are still with the team.

The Chiefs are set in their starting lineup at both tackle positions, right guard and center for the foreseeable future, with all four players being signed at least through 2018. The only opening for Erving in the starting lineup would possibly be at left guard; last year's starter, Parker Ehinger, has yet to play in the preseason after tearing his ACL last year.

Browns Open To Trading Joe Haden

Aug 29, 2017 1:57 PM

The Cleveland Browns are listening to trade offers for Joe Haden.

Haden is due to be paid $11.1 million this season, and $11.2 million and $10.4 million in 2018 and '19. Any team that acquires Haden would have to accept those salaries.

Haden is a former Pro Bowler at cornerback but hasn't been named to the team since 2014.

"This is the time of year where everything starts happening, things start getting said," said Hue Jackson. "Obviously I don't know that, but we'll deal with those things as we move forward."

Steelers Acquire Vance McDonald From 49ers

Aug 29, 2017 12:53 PM

The San Francisco 49ers announced on Tuesday that they have traded tight end Vance McDonald to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for an undisclosed draft choice. McDonald must pass a physical for the trade to be executed.

“We would like to thank Vance for his contributions to this organization on the field and in the community over the last four seasons,” said John Lynch. “Although I have only known Vance for a short time, I quickly learned that he and his wife, Kendi, have been tremendous representatives for the team in the community and their service to others is quite commendable. We wish the McDonald family all the best as they move on to a new opportunity in Pittsburgh."

McDonald (6-4, 267) was originally drafted by the 49ers in the second round (55th overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft. In four seasons with San Francisco (2013-16), he appeared in 48 games (30 starts) and registered 64 receptions for 866 yards (13.5 average) and seven touchdowns.

Adam Gase: Dolphins Won't Trade Jarvis Landry

Aug 30, 2017 8:45 AM

Adam Gase is shooting down speculation that the Miami Dolphins have put Jarvis Landry on the trading block.

Michael Lombardi reported that Miami "will seriously listen to offers" for Landry. Gase said he approached the receiver personally to explain the report was false.

"I did talk to him and told him there's no chance that he's going to be traded," Gase said. "And if something that's not true comes out like that, then I'm going to deal with it. I'm going to approach the player. ... I just let him know that there's no chance I'm going to trade you."

Landry is entering the final year of his rookie contract worth $893,850 and wants a long-term extension.

Bills Assure LeSean McCoy He Won't Be Traded

Aug 25, 2017 8:08 AM

The Buffalo Bills have assured LeSean McCoy that he won't be traded.

The Bills traded Sammy Watkins and Ronald Darby earlier this month.

"There's no trade talks," McCoy said Thursday. "I talked to my coaches. I talked to Sean and Brandon, the GM. I have a lot of respect for the guys. We had a great conversation. I'll leave it at that. One thing about it is everybody can have their own opinions or make up things. Nowadays with social media, everything is blown out of proportion.

"At the end of the day, the only thing I can do is control what I can control and that's being one of the best players in the NFL like I've been doing since I've been in the NFL. That's the only thing I can do. Trade me or not. Keep me here. Whatever it is. I talked to them guys and they said that's not on their radar and that's not in the plans. Only thing I can do is gear up for the Ravens and get ready to have a good year like I do every year."

The Philadelphia Eagles abruptly traded McCoy to the Bills in 2015.

"I've been in that position before," he said. "One thing with players being traded, it's like, 'Am I not good enough? Is there an issue? Am I a team guy?' I got traded before and I was second or third in rushing. It can't be the production. I'm a good team guy, so you can't worry about that.

"The biggest thing is being focused. Not letting it be a distraction. Best part about it is the guys we have here, especially in the upper office, we can talk to them and they're honest. I asked them about it and they said it's false. People making things up and it stirs it up. It is what it is."
